repairmen of goa

During my time in Panaji in Goa, I came across a little room full of typewriter. In there sat a man and was repairing on of them. These kinds of moments you would never experience in Germany, because you never find a shop like this in the centre of a city and the owner wouldn’t invite you for a chai just a few minutes after you asked for a permission to take photographs. I came back two more days to talk with him and take photos. I probably could have spent my whole time there but decided to look around Goa what else I could find. Ask the right person and you know pretty fast where to find all kind of repair services for all kinds products. At markets you almost certainly run into a guy who can fix your gas cooker or sharpen a hedge shear. Car broke down? No problem, on a parking spot behind a church waits a guy who can help you with that. Every evening at the fishing docks you are going to find a man fixing fishing nets and he tells you about a spot where they take apart old ships that will never see the open sea again. To get into these places took some convincing but was totally worth it. All thanks to a broken typewriter.
