holi war

When it comes to huge and beautiful festivals, India is probably the best place to be all year over. As a friend of the quiet moments, my favourite is certainly Diwali but as a photographer there was no way that I skip the biggest of them all: the Holi Celebration.

If I have to take a guess, colorful is probably one of the most used words to describe this event. That’s why I chose black and white. The experience was profound, not because of the color and all the sounds but because of everything beneath it. I saw people laugh, cry, hug, fight, scream and pray in what seemed to be just a single moment. It was exhilarating the one second and scary the next.

All of these photographs were taken in the streets of Mathura and the Bankey Bihari Temple in Vrindavan.
